While hijacked almost all of the NBA discussion for the foreseeable future, the Sixers found a creative solution to their temporary point guard problem under the radar.
According to Yahoo’s Shams Charania, the Sixers have signed Spanish point guard to a one-year contract.
Playing in all competitions for Real Madrid (Euroleague, Spanish ACB) in 2015-16, Rodriguez averaged 10.8 points and 5.9 assists per game on 48 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent shooting from three.
Rodriguez has NBA experience, having previously played for Portland, Sacramento, and New York from 2006 to 2010. Since then, he was named Euroleague MVP in 2014 and won the Euroleague title with Real Madrid in 2015.
With this deal, president of basketball operations and his staff deserve kudos for upgrading the point guard position while maintaining long-term cap flexibility.
