A construction worker was fatally crushed by a falling safe deposit box in Cheltenham Township on Monday afternoon, according to multiple media reports.
The victim, identified as 35-year-old Jonathan Maust, reportedly was part of a crew working at the former Cheltenham Mall along the 2400 block of Cheltenham Avenue, according to 6ABC.
Authorities said Maust was working at a former Wells Fargo Bank location when a large safe deposit box that had been placed on a lift fell on top of him.
Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after 1 p.m., joined by a special operations crew to assist with the removal of the safe deposit box.
Maust, of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, reportedly leaves behind a wife and child.
