Attorney General Kathleen Kane could face criminal charges as early as Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation that stems from testimony she gave to a grand jury last year, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported.
Kane likely would voluntarily appear in Norristown, where Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman has been leading an investigation since April, the newspaper reported. Ferman declined comment.
A grand jury said Kane lied in testimony and attempted to cover up her actions. It concluded Kane leaked secret investigative information to the Philadelphia Daily News to embarrass a political opponent. The grand jury recommended charging her with perjury, among other offenses.
Kane, a Democrat, won election in 2012.
