Jon Runyan joins 94.1 WIP

Over the past year, there has certainly been a lot of movement with the on-air talent at the two local sports talk radio stations. Yesterday, it was reported that Hollis Thomas and Spike Eskin would replace Tony Bruno on Josh Innes’ afternoon show. Now that Thomas has received a promotion, the station needs someone else to step in and perform some of his old duties.

As they often do, WIP has selected one of Thomas’ former Eagles teammates to help pick up the slack. Again, from Rob Tornoe over at Philly.com:

Sources say that former Congressman and ex-Eagles legend Jon Runyan will join WIP as an on-air personality. His first spot will be on Friday morning as part of the WIP Morning Show with Angelo Cataldi.

Runyan was among the finalists considered for the drive-time co-hosting spot alongside Josh Innes, and was well-liked by listeners and WIP management during his co-hosting stints.

According to Tornoe, Runyan won’t take over all of Thomas’ duties. For example, he won’t be hosting on Saturday afternoons with Rob Charry because his son is following in his footsteps as a Michigan football player. Runyan will be featured on the morning show (with some guys that chip in a little around here) and he’ll also co-host Eagles pregame coverage.

Since they’re friends now, maybe Michael Strahan can call in to trade war stories with the former New Jersey congressman?
