We have known for a while that the NHL is eying outdoor games between the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins. And according to TSN’s Frank Seravalli (formerly of the Daily News), we finally have a date for the 2017 installment:
Deals still haven't been finalized but plan for other outdoor games: Detroit at Toronto Jan 1, Chicago at St. Louis Jan 2 (W. Classic) con't

Further to @Real_ESPNLeBrun, believe #Flyers-#Pens would be played Feb. 18, 2017 at Heinz Field. https://t.co/Xedg45NVCh

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Dave Molinari also reported the February 18th date. The NHL could officially announce their outdoor schedule for the 2016-17 season as soon as today.
Beaver Stadium would have been the ideal setting for a Flyers-Pens outdoor game, but there have been whispers that Penn State’s financial demands were high. Oh well, a home-and-home between the two teams will have to suffice.
Source: Flyers will host Pens in outdoor game in 2019. It will be played at either the Linc or Citizens Bank Park.

P.S. The Penguins lost to the Islanders in regulation on Tuesday, just as the Red Wings lost to the lowly Blue Jackets in regulation. The Flyers are now two and three points behind the two wild-card teams with one game in hand on each.
