In the Dallas Cowboys' loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, quarterback Dak Prescott injured his hamstring while throwing. He had to leave the game, and could not return. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Prescott's injury is serious enough that it should keep him from playing for "multiple weeks."
Prescott signed the richest contract in NFL history just before the start of the 2024 season.
As noted in the above tweet, the Cowboys' No. 2 quarterback is Cooper Rush, but they also employ Trey Lance, who they acquired from the 49ers for a fourth-round pick. The Eagles play the Cowboys in Dallas on Sunday, November 10, in Dallas. The presumed starter will be Rush, but as the Cowboys' season continues to spiral it feels like Lance could get an opportunity to play, since he in theory has more raw talent.
Excluding meaningless final regular season games in which either team rested starters, Prescott has a 7-3 lifetime record against the Eagles. The Eagles have a 2-1 record against the Cowboys during the Prescott era when Prescott has missed the game due to injury:
• Week 8, 2020: The Eagles beat Ben DiNucci in Philly.
• Week 16, 2020: The Eagles lost to Andy Dalton in Dallas.
• Week 6, 2022: The Eagles beat Cooper Rush in Philly.
The Cowboys have already suffered a slew of other injuries this season, most notably to EDGE Micah Parsons, DL DeMarcus Lawrence, CB DaRon Bland, WR Brandin Cooks, and EDGE Sam Williams.
The Cowboys have the fourth-worst record (3-5), the third-worst point differential (-54), and and the third-longest losing streak (3 games) in the NFC.
