Report: Chip Kelly interviewing for an offensive coordinator job

Over a decade ago, former Giants head coach Tom Coughlin offered Chip Kelly a job to join his coaching staff. Kelly declined, eventually becoming the head coach of the Oregon Ducks, and then, of course, the Philadelphia Eagles.

After bombing in one season with the San Francisco 49ers, Kelly is being courted again by Coughlin, who is now the executive vice president for the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to Jacksonville reporter Hays Carlyon:

Kelly's Niners finished at 2-14 in 2016, and Kelly was fired immediately after the conclusion of the season. Kelly's offense finished 31st in yards per drive, and 26th in points per drive. His defense finished 20th in yards per drive and 30th in points per drive. As was usually the case during his reign in Philadelphia, the Niners' defense faced the most snaps in the NFL.

The Jaguars hired Marrone to be the Jaguars head coach on January 9. They reportedly also interviewed Kelly for the position, but chose Marrone.

According to a source, the Jaguars were interested in Kelly becoming their new head coach a year ago as well.
