Participants for the 10-mile race are chosen by lottery, though there are some spots available for charity runners through the American Cancer Society, Students Run Philly Style and Back On My Feet. The chance of being selected as a group or as an individual is 85 to 90 percent. Selected participants will receive confirmation Tuesday, Feb. 17.
All participants must be able to run an under 15-minute-per-mile pace for the length of the event. The course itself begins at Central High School Athletic Field, travels through various neighborhoods down Broad Street and finishes at the Philadelphia Navy Yard in South Philadelphia. Bib and packet pickup will occur at the EXPO at the Pennsylvania Convention Center Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2.
