Philly's own Reading Terminal Market was ranked No. 1 on a list of the country's five best farmers markets this year.
The Online Farmers Market ranked markets that have been longstanding in communities and withstood the test of time. Reading Terminal certainly fits the bill on that criteria; the market has been around since 1893. It's even housed in a National Historic Landmark building.

The list also highlighted that the market is open year-round, selling produce, fresh meat and cheese, seafood, and baked goods, but also sit-down meals for visitors inside the indoor market.
If you're unfamiliar with the market and are planning a visit, here's an interactive map of the space. Some highlights? If you're there to pick up produce, dairy, or meats try Downtown Cheese, Giunta's, and Kauffman's Lancaster County Produce. If you're there to eat in, you need a roast pork sandwich at DiNic's or a cheesesteak at Spataro's.
Oh, and don't leave without trying a Beiler's doughnut.
Other winners include the West Side Market in Cleveland, Ohio, the Grand Central Market in Los Angeles, the Milwaukee Public Market in Wisconsin and the Winter Garden Farmers Market & Plant Street Market in Orlando.
Last year, The Online Farmers Market ranked the five best public, open-air markets with Pike Place in Seattle, Ferry Building in San Francisco and East End in Orlando topping the list.
