There is never the time when the phrase "we're doubling down on chocolate" signals bad news.
Chocolatier Glenn Mueller told the Philadelphia Business Journal just that when he announced that he'll be renovating Mueller Chocolate Company, a 20-year staple of Reading Terminal Market.
Mueller said that the 800-square-foot kitchen in Center City will focus more on artisanal products like macarons, drinks, and chocolate-covered pretzels and fruit. He'll also be adding more counter space, although not more seating.
The company recently opened a 3,000-square-foot kitchen and store in Rockledge, Montgomery County, which will allow its Reading Terminal to focus more on small-batch products.
