Philadelphia rapper Phat Geez was shot and killed in Brewerytown on Sunday night a little over a month after he released a single that decried gun violence.
Police responded to the 1200 block of North Taney Street at 10:10 p.m. and found Phat Geez, 28, whose real name is Derrick Gant, lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center at 10:30 p.m.

Investigators said they have obtain video footage of the shooting. According to police, it shows Gant speaking with at least one person inside a car before an arm extends out of the passenger side and Gant is shot multiple time in the chest. The car then flees.
Handgun cartridge casings were found at the scene, police said. A suspect has not been identified.
Philadelphia-native Meek Mill, who was featured on a song by Phat Geez, tweeted about the shooting.
"Rip phat geez…..Philly is a terrible place for black people to live… you see too much death!!!! Smh," he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Gant's single, titled "No Gunzone," released in February, described what it's like to live in Philadelphia amidst high levels of gun violence.
