The Sixers have had a rough go of it the past few years, as the team has been in rebuilding mode and is relying on several young pieces to develop into stars.
But instead of waiting for players like Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel to reach their potential, why not find someone who's already on top of his game?
Enter: "Based God." Rapper Lil B may not have any serious professional basketball experience, but he has had quite a musical career, signing with major record labels and releasing albums that have been met with critical acclaim.
While the big club didn't reach out to the rapper, their D-League team did. The Delaware 87ers sent out a formal invitation to Lil B on Twitter Wednesday for their September tryouts.

To be clear, anyone can try out for the squad if they've got an extra $150 lying around. Also, Lil B, whose birth name is Brandon McCartney, already tried out for his hometown Golden State Warriors' D-League team in 2012, as pointed out by Maxim.
Grantland spoke to him in June about the tryouts, as well as his "curses" on NBA stars Kevin Durant and James Harden. According to Lil B, he's much better now:
I have a lot more ball control and just looking at things, I’m moving around. Especially when we’re five-on-five, I’m really trying to move the defense around, clear out things. I consider myself a 2. Right now, I don’t consider myself a point guard, but more of a shooting guard, a defensive shooting guard. I love to get to the rack. I’ve got a quick first step and, yeah, my defense is pretty crazy.
Let's take a look at his skills:
Not bad.
