Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey is asking students at Philadelphia-area colleges to keep their eyes peeled Monday evening even after the deadline for a threat posted online passed.
According to Jennifer Joyce from FOX 29, Ramsey says schools and students should remain "vigilant" in recognizing potentially suspicious activity and that the department was looking into all new threats:
Authorities cautioned local colleges on Sunday about the threat posted to the online bulletin 4chan, prompting many of them to issue warnings to their communities and increase security.
The post seemingly referenced the shooting at an Oregon community college that took the lives of nine people.
"On October 5, 2015, at 1:00 PM CT, a fellow robot will take up arms against a university near Philadelphia. His cries will be heard, his victims will cower in fear, and the strength of the Union will decay a little more," the post reads.
That deadline passed Monday without incident, however, colleges and students took precautionary measures, including larger security presences and many skipping classes.
