Are you faster than a SEPTA bus?

Take the challenge and find out

Updated Tuesday, March 14: Due to weather the event is postponed to Wednesday, March 22.

Runners are invited to race SEPTA's route 21 bus down Chestnut Street on Thursday, March 16.

The race begins at 5:41 p.m. at 40th Street. It's about three miles to the finish line at Second and Chestnut.

The annual race, now in its third year, was put together by the Clean Air Council, SEPTA and West Philly Runners. Its purpose is to give runners a chance to test their speed in preparation for the 2017 Run for Clean Air race, which will take place Sunday, April 9.

After the sprint down Chestnut, participants are invited to happy hour. Location is still being decided, but all Race the Bus runners will receive free beers and light bites.

To race SEPTA, register on Facebook and make sure you're at the starting line by 5:30 p.m.
