From Friday, Dec. 11 to Sunday, Dec. 13 the Punk Rock Flea Market will take over Callowhill. With so many vendors hoping to showcase their goods at the annual event, an extra day of shopping has been added. Friday will be a free night market, while admission for the next two days will cost $3. The proceeds will benefit Girls Rock Philly, a volunteer nonprofit music and mentoring organization dedicated to empowering girls and young women.
Each date will showcase 200-plus different vendors -- in total more than 700 vendors in the three-day span. Since none of the vendors will be repeated, attendees may want to take advantage of shopping through the whole weekend to find unique holiday gifts. The Punk Rock Flea Market will feature furniture, bicycles, clothes, art, instruments, stereo equipment, skateboards and various other knickknacks.
Added fun is the Philadelphia Record Riot, on Saturday and Sunday, where 60-plus record dealers from the east coast will have merchandise for sale. Friday night has a special event too: a scavenger hunt contest. At 6 p.m., attendees can compete for two lifetime R5 concert passes, which means the winner will never have to pay for a concert again. The hunt must be completed by the end of the Flea Market on Sunday. Food trucks will also be on-site through the weekend for guests who work up an appetite browsing.
Those that are not able to make the weekend event can find a selection of the Punk Rock Flea Market vendors on Saturday, Dec. 19 to Dec. 20 at Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest. The vendors will be at the Delaware Waterfront from noon to 5 p.m.
