Revelers enjoy the 2014 Preakness at the Piazza.

The most fashionable charity event of the spring season is in town. Preakness at the Piazza, the third annual fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, returns to Northern Liberties on Saturday, May 16.

Attendees are encouraged to don their traditional derby best (meaning big hats for the ladies or bow ties for the boys) for the stylish shindig. During the event, the 140th Preakness Stakes will be shown on the Piazza at Schmidt's 400 square-foot screen for attendees to watch. An open bar, a food buffet, contests and music round out the night's activities.

A fashion contest will also take place at the event. Eva Pilgrim of 6ABC, Philadelphia Magazine’s Bryan Buttler, former Miss Philadelphia and PHL17 weather anchor Francesca Ruscio, President of Philadelphia Academies, Inc. and First Lady of Philadelphia Lisa Nutter, and “Men’s Style Pro” founder Sabir Peele will judge, naming one female and one male "Best Dressed."

Last year, Preakness at the Piazza raised $117,000 for NMSS thanks to 1,200 attendees; this year they hope to exceed their contribution.
