Pop-up shop to return to Divine Lorraine lobby

Permits allow for double the occupancy this year

City officials formally broke ground in 2015 on the $44 million redevelopment of the Divine Lorraine Hotel, an architectural wonder that has sat vacant along North Broad Street since 1999. Doors were then opened to allow the public a chance to explore the first floor and purchase items the "Divine Lorraine Hotel Collection" gift shop.

Those who didn't get to step inside the Divine Lorraine at last year's pop-up shop event will have another chance to view the hotel on May 11, before reconstruction is complete. Attendees will get an opportunity to view and photograph the lobby while visiting Najeeb Sheikh's Divine Lorraine Hotel collection shop.

Thanks to Sheikh and developer Eric Blumenfeld, permits for the 2016 event allow for double the occupancy of last year. The goal is for the line to move quickly and for more people to have a chance to step inside.

At the 2016 Divine Lorraine Hotel collection pop-up shop, there will be new clothing and housewares, along with the debut of the Divine Sport Club collection. Staple pieces from last season will also be available.

Like last year, ten percent of all proceeds will go directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters SEPA. Those who make additional donations will receive Divine Lorraine Hotel collection keychains.

The event is free and begins at 3:30 p.m.
