Philadelphia police are seeking a pair of alleged burglars who were observed breaking into City Hall through a window on Sunday afternoon.
According to authorities, a male employee of the city's relocated Christmas Village, recently installed at Dilworth Park, witnessed the break-in around noon on Sunday. The employee told police he was conducting a sweep of the City Hall perimeter at the South Broad Street portal when he saw two unknown males attempting to climb into the municipal headquarters through an open window.
Investigators said the employee confronted the males and immediately notified City Hall security personnel.
When police arrived at the scene, the suspects had apparently fled the area. A survey of the offices and rooms in the area revealed no damage, and it was not immediately clear whether anything was taken from the building.
The first suspect is described as a black male, about 19-20 years old, who was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. The second suspect is described as a white male, also 19-20 years old, who was last seen wearing a tan jacket and dark sweatpants.
Police said Monday there was no new information about the incident and the investigation is active with the Central Detective Division.
