Police: Suspect stole $7K from Mini Market in Southwest Philadelphia

Suspect broke into market through air vent, spent an hour inside

Philadelphia police are seeking assistance from the public to identify and locate a suspect who stole thousands of dollars in cash from a market in Southwest Philadelphia last month.

According to authorities, the incident was captured on surveillance video on the night of Nov. 15, when the suspect allegedly broke through an air vent to gain access to Estevez Mini Market on the 2400 block of South 54th Street.

The video, released by police, shows the suspect attempting to break into an ATM using a power tool. When he was unable to do so, he went to the cash register and stole approximately $7,000 and cigarettes. Officials say the suspect was inside the market for about an hour.



Police described the suspect as a black male, about 20 years old, who was last seen wearing a dark-colored zip-up hooded sweatshirt with white strings, gray pants and a black sweatshirt.
