Police are still searching for a man who said he had gone missing in the woods in Winslow Township Tuesday.
According to authorities, 61-year-old James Wharton called 911 around 5:45 a.m. saying he had gotten lost in the woods after leaving his friend's home near the intersection of Berlin-Cross Keys Road and Sharp Avenue.
He called the police again around 6:40 a.m. saying he was still lost and has not made contact with authorities since then.
On Wednesday, police said they were still searching for Wharton. The woods in the Albion section of the township, where he reported going missing, have a very dense forest with heavy swamps, according to police, making the search very difficult.
Wharton is described as a white male standing 5'8" and weighing about 140 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.
Anyone with information on Wharton's whereabouts is asked to call Detective Ed Berwick of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office at 856-225-8694 or Winslow Police Detective Don Lemons at 609-567-0700, extension 1163.
