A Philadelphia police officer was injured Thursday morning after his police cruiser was involved in a crash in Kensington.
According to Officer Tanya Little, a spokesperson for the police, the crash occurred around 9 a.m. along Allegheny Avenue near Jasper Street when a police SUV, responding to a radio call, struck a civilian vehicle that was making an illegal U-turn.
Little said that after the police SUV collided with the white sedan, the officer's vehicle slammed into a utility pole.
Both the officer and the driver in the other vehicle were taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition, said Little.
Little said that, at this time, the police were not ready to release the identities of either the officer or driver involved in the incident.
The incident remains under investigation.
