New Jersey State Police on Wednesday announced the arrest of a woman who they say sideswiped a state trooper Monday afternoon on State Highway 35 in Eaton Township.
According to police, 31-year-old Kristin Szatmary, of Brick Township, was driving while intoxicated and talking on her cell phone when she struck the trooper's vehicle with her Ford Focus.
A second trooper traveling behind the car that was struck witnessed the incident and pulled Szatmary over shortly after noon. She allegedly displayed signs of intoxication when asked to perform a field sobriety test and was arrested without incident, police said.
Authorities later discovered that Szatmary was driving with a suspended license. She is charged with DWI, driving while suspended, reckless driving, and driving while using a cellphone without a hands-free device.
There were no injuries in the accident and Szatmary has been released pending a court date, authorities said.
