Philadelphia police are asking for help identifying a man they say claimed to have a gun during the robbery of a video game store in East Germantown.
The incident, which was captured on surveillance video, occurred on Friday at 11:10 a.m. at a GameStop located at 5301 Chew Ave.
Authorities said the man entered the store with his face covered and acted like he was armed with a weapon. The suspect went behind the counter and allegedly ordered employees to open the cash registers. He is accused of threatening the workers and saying, “If you want to live, open the registers.”
The man stole an undetermined amount of money and fled the scene without brandishing a weapon, authorities said.
The suspect is described as a 5-foot-11-inch black man in his 40s with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, a dark puffy vest, blue pants, a lime green skull cap and black sneakers with white soles.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Northwest Detective Division at (215) 686-3353/3354.
