Police are asking the public for help Wednesday identifying a man who robbed a convenience store in West Philadelphia.
The robbery occurred Saturday around 8:30 p.m. at the 55th Deli Market located at 1301 North 55th Street.
Authorities said the man entered a store and took a beverage from a refrigerator. As the man approached the cash register, he pulled out a handgun and grabbed an employee. The suspect whipped the employee in the head with the weapon and demanded money. Once he received an unknown amount of cash, he fled the store.
The employee was treated for minor injuries sustained during the incident.
Police describe the suspect as a black man in his mid 20's with a thin build, a mustache, a goatee, sideburns and a gap between his front teeth.
