A man needed stitches after Philadelphia police said he was assaulted just before midnight at the Piazza at Schmidt’s on New Year's Eve.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. inside the Piazza.
Police said a man was waiting in line for the Porta-Potty when someone cut in front of him.
When the person got out of the bathroom, he grabbed the man by the neck. The victim was able to push him off and the suspect fled on foot.
After pushing the attacker off, the man realized that he had been cut under his chin. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for the laceration and got 12 stitches.
The victim and a witness said the suspect may have used a ring to cause the cut.
The incident occurred during the Piazza's New Year's Eve party, an event that cost between $109-$189 per ticket. The suspect is described as a bald, muscular, white male, standing between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a clean shaven face and wearing a black jacket.
