Philadelphia police arrested a man Thursday night after he allegedly threatened to blow an officer's head off near Mifflin Square in South Philadelphia.
According to authorities, 20-year-old Shareef Haynes approached an officer in his patrol car and knocked on the window at around 6 p.m. on the 600 block of Ritner Street. After Officer Michael Edwards rolled his window down and asked Haynes how he could be of help, Haynes allegedly threatened to shoot him, CBS 3 reports.
When Edwards attempted to exit his vehicle, Haynes pushed back against the door to prevent him from doing so. Edwards was eventually able make his out, at which point police say Haynes removed his hands from his pockets and gestured in the shape of a gun. Edwards then drew his weapon and called for backup.
Officers who arrived at the scene ordered Haynes to surrender, but when he refused to comply, Officer Eric Tyler used his taser on the 20-year-old suspect.
Haynes was arrested and later taken to Methodist Hospital. Officer Edwards expressed relief that no one was seriously hurt and the suspect was taken into custody.
Haynes is charged with making Terroristic Threats and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
