Police: Juveniles arrested after stealing hoverboard in Fishtown armed robbery

Theft leads to fight, police say

A stolen hoverboard has been returned after a group of juveniles took it in an armed robbery in Fishtown, police say.

According to authorities, the crime occurred on Jan. 3 around 6 p.m. when the victim was riding her hoverboard near the 2500 block of Almond Street.

Three boys were walking on the other side of the street and one of them walked up and pointed a gun at her. He demanded the hoverboard, she complied and they walked away down Letterly Street. The victim didn't report the incident to police.

Four days later, on Jan. 7, police responded to a fight on the 100 block of W. Montgomery Avenue. The scuffle stemmed from the previous robbery, police say, and two of the boys involved in the Jan. 3 incident were arrested.

In addition to recovering the stolen hoverboard, police took a BB gun from the juveniles. The two boys who were arrested are wanted in at least one other armed robbery, according to authorities.
