Police uncovered an secret methamphetamine-manufacturing lab in a Montgomery County apartment building early Wednesday morning, taking four suspects into custody.

Police in Lower Pottsgrove said they were tipped off to the lab around 3 a.m., alerted to investigate a unit in the Rolling Hills Apartments complex in Sanatoga, Montgomery County.

After entering the unit under question, officials identified chemicals and instruments consistent with producing meth. The volatile chemicals in the apartment required for the Lower Pottsgrove codes department to condemn the unit.

The four people found in the apartment have been detained but have not yet been formally charged.

The Pennsylvania State Police Clandestine Lab unit, Montgomery County detectives, Upper Pottsgrove police, and Limerick township police, and Royersford police all assisted the Lower Pottsgrove police in the investigation.

Officials are reviewing evidence found in the apartment as the investigation continues before moving forward with criminal charges.

The unit was turned over to Rolling Hills Management, police said.
