Authorities in Chester County are investigating an overnight shooting that occurred at the suburban Philadelphia campus of Lincoln University.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the incident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday on Baltimore Pike.
The school announced that gunshots were fired and a stray bullet struck a female security officer inside a van. The vehicle was transporting officers from Imperial Security. The private firm was hired to provide additional security for the weekend's homecoming festivities.
The officer was transported to Christiana Hospital where she will undergo surgery to remove the bullet.
State police said the investigation is being handled by the Lincoln University Police Department.
