Philadelphia police are seeking three suspects in the shooting of a taxicab driver in the Point Breeze section of South Philadelphia early Saturday morning.
According to authorities, the shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m. after the 38-year-old driver picked up two men and a woman at the intersection of Broad and Wharton streets, NBC 10 reports.
As the driver took the trio to their destination, two of the passengers pointed guns at him and demanded money. Both fired shots, the driver said, striking him in the arm and causing him to crash into a row of parked cars.
One of the male suspects in the passenger seat immediately fled the scene, while the man and woman in the back became trapped and began screaming to be let out. An unidentified person eventually opened the door and both of them fled from the cab.
The cab driver was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Police are now seeking the three suspects in the shooting, who are all believed to be in their twenties. The cab driver described one of the male suspects as a 5'5'' black man with cropped hair. The female suspect was described as a stocky black woman, about 5'1'', with long wavy hair.
