A woman woke up to loud noises in the middle of the night thinking her cats were the cause, however, in reality, a burglar was apparently attempting to gain access to her Jenkintown home.
The incident occurred Friday around 1:45 a.m. on the 300 block of Thorpe Road in Abington Township.
Authorities say a woman yelled at her cats to stop making noise. When she went downstairs, she discovered that a window had been opened and the screen removed. When officers arrived on the scene, they determined that someone had tried to gain entry into the residence.
Officers also discovered there was an attempt to enter another home through a downstairs window on the same block.
An additional three home burglaries were committed approximately miles away on the 1000 block of Huntingdon Road. In all three incidents, entry into the homes was gained through a ground-level window.
Around 5 a.m., a resident of the block reportedly witnessed two suspects placing a large, rectangular object into the trunk of a parked car before fleeing the area.
Video game systems, televisions, computers, cameras and other electronics were stolen from the residences, authorities said. Cash was also reportedly taken.
