Philadelphia police have arrested four juveniles who were allegedly involved in a vicious attack on a Roman Catholic High School student late last month, the first of two attacks that occurred in Center City during the final week of February.
According to authorities, the four suspects were taken into custody for questioning Thursday afternoon at the Central Police Division building in the Spring Garden section of the city, 6 ABC reports. Police said surveillance video of the attack helped them identify the suspects.
The four juveniles, all reportedly students at Philadelphia Electrical and Technical Charter School, were allegedly part of a group of students who attacked the first, unidentified victim on a Wednesday afternoon. Two days later, Roman Catholic High School student Jimmy Fallon was "pummeled" by what he described as a group of more than a dozen students outside the Municipal Services Building at Broad Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard. The attack left him with a swollen eye and a concussion.
One of the suspects held for questioning on Thursday reportedly admitted to detectives that he participated in the attack on Fallon as well, though police were not sure whether the other three suspects had any involvement in the second beating. The condition of the victim in the first attack remains unknown.
The mother of one of the suspects was notified Thursday morning that her son was in police custody She told 6 ABC her son does not have a history of violent incidents but has lately been spending time with what she called "the wrong crowd."
