Some good news for those of you still looking for a valentine in the City of Brotherly Love: There are plenty of fish in the sea, eh, Schuylkill River.
According to a survey published in Forbes, Philadelphia is the second-best city for single men, trailing only Baltimore. Washington, D.C. ranked third. Philly ranked third for best cities for singles overall, behind Boston (No. 1) and Washington, D.C. (No. 2).

The survey, put together by San Francisco-based financial literacy site NerdWallet, found 68 percent of Philadelphians are ridin’ solo, or are at least without a ring.
In Boston, 69 percent of the population is unmarried, and in Washington, D.C. it’s even higher, at 70 percent, the survey found.
Aside from looking at the unmarried population, the survey also took into account what it termed the “dating affordability” of the city by calculating the cost of a three-course meal for two at a midrange restaurant, two movie tickets and similar date night to-dos, in comparison to the median earnings for workers, taken from the U.S. Census.
It also looked the city’s degree of “date-friendliness” by calculating the number of arts and entertainment businesses and restaurants per 1,000 residents, plus “walk scores. . . to evaluate how easy it is to get around and meet people,” Forbes said.
The study didn’t take into account lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender singles because the Census does not provide that data.
