A Philadelphia street performer wowed the judges during the blind auditions on Tuesday night's episode of "The Voice," earning the fastest four-chair turn in the show's history and praise from the music icons.
Philadelphia Magazine's 2014 Best of Philly Street Performer Anthony Riley's rendition of James Brown’s “I Got You (I Feel Good)” had all four judges pushing their buttons within the first few seconds. And when their chairs turned, they were not disappointed.
Riley received a standing ovation from all four judges, who then fought to get him on their teams. Pharrell Williams referred to Riley as “electric,” while Christina Aguilera praised his voice and stage presence.
With his pick of four of the music industry's top artists, Riley eventually decided to work with Williams.
The local soul singer, known for performing on the streets of Philly or in Reading Terminal Market, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct for singing in Rittenhouse Square in 2007. However, the charges were dismissed, and he was later awarded $27,500 in a lawsuit.
