Philly POPS perform tribute to Carole King hits

A selection of King's chart-topping hits to be performed with special guest singers

Singer-songwriter Carole King's 400-plus compositions have been recorded by more than 1,000 artists and 118 of them have become chart-topping hits. As a tribute to King's musical career, Philly POPS will perform a selection of her music over the Feb. 5 weekend.

The concert will feature the songs "I Feel the Earth Move," "It’s Too Late," "So Far Away," "You’ve Got a Friend," "Natural Woman," "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" and other popular picks.

Three special guest vocalists will perform alongside the 65-piece POPS orchestra: Tony nominee Liz Callaway, Philly native Allison Blackwell and Broadway star Bryce Ryness.

The Friday, Feb. 5 show will begin at 8 p.m., while the Saturday and Sunday performances will begin at 3 p.m.

Each concert will be preceded by a conversation with one of the guest singers, followed by a performance by a local school. Friday night will feature the South Philly magnet school Girard Academic Music Program (GAMP) performing King's songs.
