Some Philadelphia police bike patrol officers were recently joined by a young man on a special "ride along," according to a post on the department's Facebook page.
Officers Brown, Lopez and Green-Coneby were out on patrol last week in the 12th District when a young man named Jamir rode along side them on his bicycle. When he asked if he could join them for a while, they happily obliged.
During the ride, one of the officers asked Jamir what he wanted to be when he grew up. He said he wanted to be a firefighter.
"What?! wink emoticon -editor," the department's anonymous narrator joked in the post.
Only a few blocks from Engine 68 and Ladder 13, the officers took Jamir over to meet some Philadelphia firefighters, who gave him the grand tour.
"Thank you Jamir for your company, and for bringing a smile to our officers faces!" the department wrote.
"PS - When you decide that being a firefighter is yesterday's news, there is pleeeeennnnty of room here in the PPD for a young man of your caliber!"
