Philly's own DiNic's Roast Pork in Reading Terminal Market and the White House Sub Shop in Atlantic City were both featured on the list published last week.
DiNic's was the only Pennsylvania restaurant to make the list. The White House was joined by Millburn Deli in North Jersey as the Garden State's representatives on Thrillist's roundup.
Here's what the list says about DiNic's:
"A master of thick cuts of meat in Philly's crowded Reading Terminal Market, DiNic's takes the family’s butchering past and brings it to modern Philly. We're talking about the classic Philly roast pork. Roast beef. Massive homemade meatballs. Thick Italian sausage. Not a lot of frills here --just some rabe and some provolone and zero bull----."
Thrillist calls the Jersey Shore sub shop "a veritable Atlantic City institution and has been since 1946."
The list highlighted White House Sub Shop's Italian hoagies, in particular.
Thrillist compiled the list based on "a mix of legends and newcomers that represent the best bread-based delights in the US, culled from our nationwide network of hungry primates."
