Sunday, April 12, will be full of locally produced goods for sampling and purchasing, as well as cooking demonstrations, workshops and interactive features. Exhibitors include the Cape May Oyster Cooperative, Door to Door Organics, Jig-Bee Flowers, the Philadelphia Beekeepers Guild and Stone & Key Cellars.
The Philadelphia Food Policy Advisory Council will hold a free public forum on food policy and the next mayor of Philadelphia at 11:30 a.m. A series of Classroom Takeovers will teach attendees how to compost, about beekeeping, how to preserve with natural sweeteners and even how to butcher a whole goat.
Cookbook authors will be on hand to give demonstrations, tips and recipes, and a kids' section will teach young attendees about planting, growing and cooking. A Community Supported Agriculture Pop-Up will also be open, with the CSA programs of Greensgrow Farms, Jig-Bee, Pennypack Farm, Philly Foodworks, Snipes Farm, Taproot Farm, Lancaster Farm Fresh and Red Earth Farm on display.
There will opportunities for guests to enter contests, and Whole Foods will hand out free shopping bags while supplies last. The Libations Lounge, a guided tour with samples of locally made spirits, requires an additional ticket to access.
VIP tickets to an event preview hour will be open to local buyers so they can meet and greet growers in hopes of creating connections. The industry preview will be from 10-11 a.m.
