Among the promotional nights for the upcoming Phillies season is a game dedicated to Philadelphia's LGBT community, a first for the organization.
The team's Aug. 29 game against the Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park will be "Pride Night." Here's the description from the team's website (h/t PhillyInfluencer):
The Phillies invite you to celebrate Philadelphia's rich LGBT culture at our inaugural Pride Night Celebration at Citizens Bank Park on Monday, August 29 at 7:05 p.m. when the Phillies host the Washington Nationals. All members of the LGBT community, as well as family, friends and organizations are invited to come out and show their pride at this event.
The first 500 fans to buy tickets for the night will receive a coupon for an unspecified "limited edition Phillies Pride themed giveaway."
The Phillies' biggest rival, the New York Mets, will also be hosting a "Pride" night this season. Last season, the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants held promotional nights for the LGBT community.
The A's and Giants handed out some pretty cool giveaways at those games, with San Fran giving fans a custom "Pride" T-shirt and Oakland giving out rainbow-colored wristbands.

It remains to be seen what the "Pride themed giveaway" will be for the Phillies. Either way, it's a classy move from a team in a league that's starting to turn the corner on LGBT relations.
