Phillies place struggling Aaron Nola on 15-day disabled list

Over his last eight outings, Nola submitted a 9.82 ERA.

The Phillies decided that Nola wouldn’t make his scheduled start on Wednesday night against the San Francisco Giants, instead recalling righty from Lehigh Valley. Nola is headed to the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow strain.

Claimed off waivers by the Phillies in June, the 27-year-old Klein had a 1-1 record and 2.13 ERA in 25.1 innings pitched for Lehigh Valley.

Nola got the win despite not pitching all that well in his last outing six days ago against the Atlanta Braves. The LSU product gave up three runs on eight hits and three walks in only five innings of work.
