Philadelphians have fewer and fewer excuses to not make it to the polls Tuesday.
For one, the several-day SEPTA strike is over, and now, the ride-share services Uber and Lyft will be giving free rides to city residents' polling sites paid for by others.
The tab for the ride-share shuttles to vote is being picked up by supporters of a Super PAC supporting Hillary Clinton through the political crowdfunding platform Crowdpac via a My Ride to Vote campaign.
The free Uber and Lyft rides are actually available to voters throughout Pennsylvania, as well as in Florida and North Carolina on Election Day, “three critically important states," the campaign page says.
According to the My Ride to Vote page, so far, $364,568 in donations to get folks in the aforementioned places to the polls have been raised. That’s a lot of free rides.
To take advantage of the offer, riders will use a promo code. For more information on the free rides, or to donate to the fund, visit the My Ride to Vote page.
