A man has been taken into custody for allegedly firing a gun at an unmarked police car Friday evening.
6ABC reports Malik Smith, 21, has been arrested and charged with pointing a gun at an officer, aggravated assault and related offenses for the shooting that occurred in the Frankford section of the city.
According to authorities, the incident occurred just after 7 p.m. on 5300 block of Hedge Street.
Police said they were conducting a narcotics investigation when about three to four males with guns were seen pointing their weapons at the car.
Five shots were fired, two of which struck the front bumper of the car.
The officer in the vehicle got out and gave chase, and other responding officers intercepted Smith, handcuffing him.
Two men were initially arrested from the narcotics investigation, but one was later cleared, according to the news station.
