Sing along to holiday classics with the Philadelphia Orchestra

A community event for music lovers of all ages

On Dec. 16, the Philadelphia Orchestra will host a special event for the holiday season. Singers of all ages and skill levels are invited to converge at The Salvation Army Kroc Center to participate in a free community singalong. Musicians from the string and brass sections of the Philadelphia Orchestra will provide the melodies of holiday classics. Special guest Bramwell Tovey will serve as the conductor.

The performance will last for an hour and will include these songs:

"Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
"Joy to the World"
"Come, All Ye Faithful"
"Jingle Bells"
"Deck the Halls"
"Angels We Have Heard on High"
"The First Noel"
"Silent Night"

The holiday event is part of a larger year-round program. SingIN and PlayIN events with the Philadelphia Orchestra regularly invite the Philadelphia community to either sing with various musicians from the Orchestra or to bring their instruments and play together. Often, the Kimmel Center will be the venue for the event, but location can vary.

The various types of performances can be seen in this video from the 2014 event series:

Singers should arrive a half hour early for the singalong and are asked to register ahead of time for the free event.
