Having trouble getting your hands on a recycling bin in Philadelphia? Here's where city officials will be giving them away next week.

On Friday, Councilman Brian O’Neill (R-10th District) announced his office is sponsoring an event to give city residents a chance at obtaining the valuable blue plastic container. The giveaway is scheduled to take place Saturday, May 6, at his office inside The Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #5 located at 11630 Caroline Road in Northeast Philly.

Officials from the Philadelphia Streets Department and RecycleBank will be on hand to distribute the bins.

All city residents are invited to register new or existing bins in the Streets Department's Recycle Rewards program. The offer allows individuals to earn points for deals and discounts at local businesses. After signing up, participants simply need to attach the provided sticker to their bins to earn points.

Those unable to attend the event who need a bin or need to register for the program are advised to call or visit one of O’Neill’s five offices:

• 7522 Castor Ave. in Rhawnhurst, 215-685-0438
• 432 Rhawn St. in Fox Chase, 215-685-6431
• 11630 Caroline Road in Northeast Philly, 215-437-9167
• The 7th Police District at Bustleton Avenue and Bowler Street, 215-685-0432
• Room 562 in City Hall, 215-686-3422
