The Philadelphia Museum of Art is ready to usher in the holiday season. On Nov. 23, the museum will host a free tree lighting ceremony, outside on the east terrace.

Attendees can enjoy holiday treats and a preview of the museum's holiday entertainment, along with a first look at the festive tree.

While festivities start at 5 p.m., the tree lighting countdown -- led by museum director Timothy Rub -- won't start until 5:30.

Since the event takes place on a Wednesday night, those who go for the tree lighting ceremony can also take advantage of the museum's pay-what-you-wish Wednesday evening admission deal.

The Balcony Café will also be open late, serving snacks, coffee, tea, wine and beer.
