The Philadelphia Mills has wrapped up a multimillion dollar renovation project encompassing a range of facility upgrades and the arrival of several new retailers at the complex on Woodhaven Road in Northeast Philadelphia.
Simon Property Group renamed the former Franklin Mills in September 2014 as the $30 million project got underway, noting at the time that after 25 years, it was important for the area's largest outlet shopping center to take a step forward. The transformation has brought in about a dozen new shops and revitalized the property both inside and out.
“Our intention for this major revitalization project of Philadelphia Mills was to elevate the customer shopping experience from top to bottom,” said Gregg Goodman, President of The Mills. “The updates made to the property, along with the popular retail brands that have opened, have helped us to not only excite our long-time customers but attract new shoppers as well. It should also be noted, that this $30 million renovation was completed without any taxpayer support.”
Improvements at the mall include new entrances, new parking lots and landscaping, restored skylights and flooring, upgraded restrooms and a new dining pavilion.
Among the new brands at Philadelphia Mills are Express Factory Outlet Store, Steve Madden, Samsonite, Starbucks and Rack Room Shoes. Saks OFF 5th, H&M and Marshalls HomeGoods also reinvested in their stores with several renovations.
Located 15 miles northeast of Center City, the mall employs more than 2,500 people and generates millions of dollars in revenue each year for the City of Philadelphia. Nearby amenities include Dave & Busters and AMC 14 Theaters.
Simon, based in Indianapolis, also controls the King of Prussia and Montgomery malls among more than 325 retail real estate properties in North America, Asia and Europe.
