A Philadelphia man who was intercepted by police during a methamphetamine delivery in Newark will spend nearly 13 years in prison after he was recently sentenced for the incident.
According to prosecutors, 29-year-old Aaron Vega-Castelo was driving on the New Jersey Turnpike in December 2013 en route to delivering 1.7 kilograms of methamphetamine to an unidentified buyer in Elizabeth.
Police pulled him over for a traffic stop on the turnpike and proceeded to search the vehicle, finding an additional $110,000 in cash in two shoeboxes, according to CBS 3.
Vega-Castelo had previously pleaded guilty to distributing and possessing methamphetamine.
Under the terms of the sentence, Vega-Castelo will also be subject to five years of supervised release after his prison term.
