The current emergency notification system in Philadelphia and four suburban counties will soon be replaced with a new system, CBSPhilly reports.
Philadelphia, as well as Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware and Chester counties, will move from the current "ReadyNotifyPA" to a new system for emergency notification.

"As technology in this space evolves, we too are evolving our system," Samantha Phillips, Philadelphia’s Emergency Operations Director, told CBSPhilly. "So in addition to sending email and text alerts, we also have the option to do voice alert, which is critically important for certain emergencies. And we have also have the option to confirm receipt of the notification."
Residents who sign up for the new system will be able to request notifications for specific locations, such as their home, place of work or child's school.
Those who are currently signed up to ReadyNotifyPA will need to re-register for the new system. Philadelphia residents can sign up here, while those in outlying counties should sign up using their county’s website.
