PETA is offering a $5,000 award for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for stealing and hanging a pit bull in North Philadelphia.
The 5-year-old pit bull, named Mama-who, and two puppies were stolen Tuesday from the backyard of a house on the 5100 block of N. Marvine St. The pets' owner, Latanya Thomas, found the mother pit bull hanging from its leash over a neighbor's fence on Wednesday.

The puppies have since been found and returned. The person who found them initially assumed they were stray dogs until hearing about their story, according to 6ABC.com.
PETA announced Friday it will offer a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator.
"This dog endured the terror and pain of being stolen from her home, along with her puppies, and strangled to death," PETA Senior Director Colleen O'Brien said in a statement. "PETA is urging anyone with any information about this horrific case to come forward immediately, before anyone else gets hurt."
