While widely-known for their football team, the Penn State Nittany Lions men's basketball team will square off against Michigan State on Jan. 7 at the Palestra — normally the home court of Penn Quaker basketball.
Penn State will be the home team for the game at the "Cathedral of College Basketball." The Lions team features six players from the Philly area, and head coach Pat Chambers is from Delaware County.
"It is always an incredible experience to play in the Palestra and we are honored to do it this time as the home team. We have so many ties to the city as a program and we look forward to connecting with the alumni and fans in the area,” Chambers said in a press release. “This … offers us an opportunity to showcase Penn State Basketball to those fans in the Philadelphia area who don’t have the opportunity to regularly travel to the Bryce Jordan Center.”
